Your Dining Rooms With a Cottage Style

For all the time and effort you might put into creating a cottage style dining room, at the end of all that hard work it will be shown how your dining room starts to work for you; it will be a place where you really feel at home – your comfort zone, a place that charms both you and your guests, a place where great times are had and memories kept. So is it worth a dining room makeover? We certainly think so! Take a look at some of our favourite inspiration for the unique charm that comes with cottage style dining rooms.

* Country and cottage styles are related to one another and you often hear the term country-cottage style – our first dining room is exactly that. For the majority of women readers, a love affair begins with this design’s use of femininity – vintage floral fabrics are pretty and charming, dining chairs painted in sugary pastel shades such as buttermilk, duck egg blue or pink. The mood is cheery and even more so with a hint of a summer hue – bring a classic sunshine yellow to the walls and keep it crisp with white woodwork and table d?cor.

* Moving forward with another beautiful country-cottage style dining room – another feminine one we may add. Well guys, you can hardly blame us when cottage looks are essentially dipped in floral prints and pretty colours! This time the colour is more subtle though with just a few touches of rose pink or lavender against a white backdrop. The overall look with its plentiful use of white and touches of pink/lavender is fresh, light and easy on the eye. Even take white to existing wood furniture in a matte or eggshell finish. Dress the table with glassware, a white or light pink table runner and a bouquet of your favourite flowers.

* Duck egg blue is another popular colour for cottage style dining rooms and will be more of a relief to the male population! This colour requires light so go easy on your window treatments – light fabrics for curtains or white Venetian blinds that reflect the light into the room. Where will you use this colour? We recommend going beyond the obvious and rather than painting the walls in this pleasant hue, try painting existing furniture such as a cottage style dresser which prides itself on elegance. Take the colour further with accessories – duck egg blue table and/or dinnerware, china-ware displayed on a focal wall or cushions for dining chairs.

White or an off white really is this hue’s perfect match when you want to keep the room light and fresh – paint dining chairs and table in an off-white, walls in crisp white and white or beige curtains. Don’t forget an attractive glass vase or pitcher displaying fresh flowers on the dining table’s centre.
